The aluminum sheet is offset from the wall by a 3/4" thick wooden frame which is attached to the back. The wooden frame includes a hanging wire for easy mounting on your wall (see photo on the left).

Artist's Description
A wayside shrine on the wall of the Abbey of Saint Peter in Sankt Peter, Germany. The rough translation of Wahrhaft der war Gottes Sohn is Trust in God's Son. I found all the articles surrounding Christ on the Cross really interesting. There are tools of tradesmen, weapons of war, vessels for food and drink, a ladder, handcuffs, a robe and even a trio of dice. I don't know the meaning behind all of the symbolism, but the bright blue on this folk art shrine really was eye catching.
