A totally adequate purchase - nothing outstanding, nothing problematic. Since the original was one of your stock images, I cannot speak to whether this was a clear image, besides which the original was a watercolor, so clarity is not essential to the success of the image. I predict that a larger image would lack clarity. But I'm generally satisfied.

My husband and I had a lovely trip to Paris and southern France last July. While on a bus trip we were able to take a photo of this cafe that we share a name with. Our photo was a little blurry and not good for enlargement. Your wonderful photo now hangs in our own kitchen as a nice reminder of that trip. It is beautiful and of very good quality. We love it. Thank you Mary Flore

This is one of three pieces that I am adding to my collection. Once I have received the other two pieces I will be happy to provide a photograph of the display. The quality of the art piece is exceptional. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase even more pieces!

Artist's Description

During the Fifties and the Sixties, the place to be at sundown was on Broadway ... Broadway in Portland, Oregon. While the street is much changed today, it's hard to forget the glitter of all those lights and the activity around the theaters. This painting depicts how I remember it to be. We used to call it "Running the Gut" or just "Crusin Broadway." Put on your leather jacket, stradivarius shirt, argyle socks and saddle shoes .... then have some fun.

About Mike Hill

Mike Hill

I began painting as a child. My mother would give me pictures to copy, not trace. She would draw wedding cakes, high heel shoes, couples dancing and never a car or truck. She had been a commercial artist during the nineteen thirties and never stopped encouraging me in the arts. After high school I went to California School of Fine Arts in San Francisco . After art college I returned to Portland, Oregon to pursue the art of dentistry. I retired from dentistry a few years ago (I'm still practicing at the Geriatric Dental Clinic in Portland), but I hope to keep painting until I can no longer hold a brush. I paint realism, but mostly I paint "realism with an attitude." I love the ability to enhance what I see with an emphasis on color and...
